Perseverance

Hebrews 10:36 (ESV):For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what is promised.’

Cancer produced perseverance, character and hope. To beat cancer, or to achieve anything worthwhile in life, perseverance is essential. Perseverance is the ability to keep going when all appears to be lost. Perseverance doesn’t guarantee good outcomes because there are often many factors outside of our control. However, perseverance does give the possibility of success, in stark contrast to quitting. Character comes from experience. For the most part, life meanders methodically along, giving a false sense of security, rather like a deer, oblivious to a hungry tiger nearby. And when misfortune does attack, character is the ability to face up to reality, and persevere. Does one fail miserably at the first mental test, or make it over the finishing line? For anyone fighting cancer, live one day at a time, celebrate small victories and never give up.
